bio:
I know that bios are typically written 3rd person, in the vaguely futile attempt to legitimize what is effectively the artist discussing himself. But I dont think were fooling anyone, so Ill just tell you a little bit about me.
Ive been playing music and writing songs since I was about six years old. Inspired at that time by the rough and tumble experience of a Midwestern childhood, I wrote deep, heart-felt, contemplative stuff like I like Ice-Cream and Homework Bites.
At the age of 22 I put music on hold and moved to New York City to pursue a career as an actor. Music didnt stay on hold for long, though. In 1998 I met Chris Ranney, and soon thereafter I recorded my first EP, James Rudnick (catchy title, huh?). Chris produced the CD, and it was met with critical acclaim (or possibly it was just claimed to be critical). The songs reflect the city in which they were written and performed, and they are what is most often referred to when people say, Jimmy Rudnick yeah, I really like his early stuff.

Id been playing solo for a while in New York when I met fellow musician, spiritual journeyman and condiment enthusiast Travis Smith. Together, Travis and I formed Climbing Blind, a rock band with soulful harmonies that led one reviewer to dub us The Indigo Boys. In 2001 Climbing Blind recorded our first LP, Breakfast. Chris was on hand to produce this one as well.

Once Breakfast was pressed, I did what any smart businessman would do to support the long-suffering efforts of his New York based band I moved to Australia.
After two years in Aussie paradise, it was time for some reality. I came back to America, determined to impress the throngs of screaming fans with my shaved head and pseudo-Australian accent. Neither did, so I set about to collect experiences suitably painful to be recorded on the next CD.
My newest CD, ColderSomewhereElse, is a bit of an international work, with songs written in Australia, Thailand, Israel, Fiji and that most exotic of all places Kansas City, Missouri. It was produced by Rin Vinson in Atlanta, Georgia, and it features performances by some of the best musicians in the industry today: Rin Vinson on Drums, Jake Lawson on Bass, Aaron Thompson on Guitars and Travis Smith on Background Vocals. It is definitely rock and roll, but it won't make your ears bleed. I wrote most of the songs on the piano, and the CD really retains a lot of that acoustic feel. I had a blast making this CD.
I hope you have a blast listening to it.
